Hey, y'all. Long time no see! If you've forgotten, I'm Ashley, and this is my blog. Kind of. Listen, I know, I haven't posted in 300 years, but a girl gets busy okay? I thought I should do a come-back post and talk about what's been going down... and what is that you might ask? Let me spell it out for ya. C-O-L-L-E-G-E. That word alone has been KICKING. MY. BUTT. In the best and worst ways possible, I guess. Let me fill you in and tell you what's been going on these last few months. So, if y'all have been reading my blog from the beginning, then you will know that I started as a Media Communication major and I was also moving into the dorm rooms on my college campus. Well... none of those things lasted very long. Living on campus isn't exactly all what it was cracked up to be. Here's the top 3 things NO ONE tells you about living on campus. 1. IT'S FLIPPIN LOUDI'm sure overtime it would be something to be sort of used to, but let me paint this picture for you. I was on the first floor, right next to the center courtyard where everyone gathered at midnight to play volleyball, listen to music and other LOUD activities. The building also happened to be right next to a major road, so traffic noise was super common. On top of all that, the walls are PAPER THIN. No joke, I could hear the person next door sneeze, and if I said "bless you", I'm sure they could hear me too. You can here E V E R Y T H I N G. I heard so many things I was fine to be without, but at least it molded me for some mature-ness! 2. You don't necessarily pick who you live with, even if you pick your roommateEven if you select or request your own roommate (which sometimes, that doesn't even work out), you don't get to pick the people who live around you. And let me share with y'all... that can be some interesting and colorful characters. 3. Wifi connection? never heard of her.I'm positive that this varies for every college campus I'm sure, but for mine specifically, a bunch of college students in one building all trying to use the Internet to submit their assignments before midnight is NOT the ideal recipe to a good connection. The amount of times while I was there and I had to wait 20+ minutes for a TV show or webpage to load was almost every flappin time. ANYWHO... moving on. So in part with these and some more issues, I decided to move on back home. I do love my home (and my dog), but I'm planning on looking into different apartments closer to the college this year. Besides that, here's some other important information that no one cares to mention (and if they do mention it, they assume it won't happen to you). You think you know what you want to do... until you sign up for it.I was always told that every college student changes their major or minor once, if not more than once. I always just assumed that if I got my shitocki mushrooms together before college, then I would never have to change my major. I'm the kind of person who's a big planner, has lists for everything, and lists of those lists. So I figured if I stared long enough and printed off and highlighted papers concerning what would have been my future major and made Pinterest boards for future careers, I would be just fine. That was until I got into the classes concerning that subject. I still do think that Media Communication is... interesting. However, I was less than excited to attend a class and cover units about the history of a printer and microphone. I found myself not enjoying class more and more everyday, until I literally dreaded doing any actual homework because it was such a bore, even though I did still find an aspect of it interesting. Even when we had finals in that topic, I still chose criminal based topics to base my work off of. It was then when I realized that my minor, criminal justice, was what I really wanted to be studying. Before Christmas Break was over, I was able to go in and change my major to criminal justice. This past semester, spring semester, was my first as a criminal justice student, and I absolutely loved it. Not only am I excited about my classes and to learn, but I am retaining the information much better than I ever did with MC. You learn the art of speed walking. Everywhere. My calves have never looked better. You get to take classes you never thought you would take. Like, ever. One of my favorite things about college, even though my college is smaller, is that there are a lot of different options when it comes to actual classes you can take. This past semester, because I needed to fill a fine arts credit that I thought I had taken care of, my friend and I took Film Music Appreciation. Although it wasn't the most fun thing to do at 9:30 in the morning (ya know, listening to violin movie scores until you're almost asleep), it was pretty interesting to learn something different besides just what your major is. It'll all be worth it... right? It's still kind of crazy to me that at some point within the next couple of years... I'll have my degree. Ya know, what I'm working my tail off for right now. And even when I'm up at 3 in the morning, questioning my whole existence and if I REALLY do need to know the outcome of that Supreme Court case (which the answer is yes, it's always yes if you're a criminal justice major), I can assure myself that someday, when I get my bachelor's degree, this will all be worth it. So, with that, I'm leaving this post here. I'm quite determined to revamp this blog, and not worry about who's seeing it, what I should put, or if there is a certain thing I want to write about but would be worried no one would care. I am treating this as my online diary, in a way. A survival guide to college and how to live through it, of sorts. I'm excited to continue on with this journey, and have you read along with me! I have so many ideas, and I can't wait to share them with you.

Welcome to a typical day in the life of Ash! Thursday, July 5th, was a pretty normal day for me, and I decided what better way to showcase myself then to have my readers follow me around! In addition to writing posts, I'm bringing something new to this blog. I'm going to be filming certain things (follow me around, makeup looks, travel, ect.) to add dimension to my blog posts, in addition to giving my readers a better look into my life! Follow me around on this day, and let me know if you want to see even more! |
